This May The Palace Gallery will host artwork by ceramic artist Hannah Kautto. Her exhibit Rainy Day explores ceramic expressions and approaches which reflect a colorful synesthetic vision of language to form. Often adorned with brightly rendered signs, signifiers, and symbols, her forms reinforce and literally underpin her leading concepts of growth, accomplishment and success. Her works can also be cynically humorous can also reflect her investigation into visual and written language, her diverse heritage, and identity politics. Hannah was The Palace Gallery's Artist In Residence in 2024 and is currently a resident ceramic artist at Northern Clay Center, Minneapolis, MN.
Hannah Kautto received an Associate in Fine Arts from Rochester Community and Technical College, MN, 2015. After graduation, she spent two years in Minneapolis, MN, working in a ceramic production studio. In 2018, she uprooted and moved to Missoula, Montana. In 2023, Hannah was a summer resident at the Clay Studio of Missoula. She then earned her BFA in ceramics from the University of Montana, Missoula, in 2024. Hannah is currently a resident at Northern Clay Center, Minneapolis, MN.
