A reading of Chilean poet Pablo Neruda's poems from Art of Birds, in the original Spanish and in English translation. Open mic to follow, with local poets reading bird-themed poems.

Get ready for the 31 days of August! Poets Rachel Kario, Joanna Thomas, and Jillian Callahan share their work and strategies for participating in poetry marathons, writing 31 postcard poems in 31 days, and/or reading 31 poetry books in 31 days. Book trade! Postcard ideas! How to sign up for marathons!

Jen Lynn, former director of LiTFUSE, brings a few faculty members of the North Town Coffee poetry weekend to talk about upcoming workshop opportunities. This is a preview; poets will gather in Yakima, Sept 6-7, Fri-Sat.

Jillian Calahan (she/they) is a poet and short story writer from the Pacific Northwest. She works at Tieton Arts and Humanities as the program director for LiTFUSE poetry. She has been featured in a number of anthologies and was shortlisted for the 2024 Central Avenue Poetry Prize. She is the co-author of "The Angel's Addendum" with Yakima poet Samuel Faulk and in June of 2024, released her debut collection of grief poetry titled "Beyond The Doors of A Last Breath." Rachel Karyo’s writing has appeared in various literary journals and anthologies, including Noctua Review, Lumina Online, RipRap, Cease, Cows, Liars’ League, Silent Auctions, Sand, DMQ Review, and Belletrist. Her work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and a Best of the Net Award. Rachel’s chapbook, Sometimes at Parties, is available from dancing girl press. This summer, Rachel looks forward to participating in the Cascadia Poetics Lab Poetry Postcard Fest for the third time.

Inland Poetry will present Neruda's Birds, a selected reading of Chilean poet Pablo Neruda's poems from his collection Art of Birds (Arte de pájaros), in the original Spanish and English translation, June 15, 2024, at the Palace Gallery, 210 W. 4th Avenue, Ellensburg, WA, 4-6pm.
Guest readers include: Polo Muñoz, Lorena Medina-Martinez, José Elzinga-Diaz, Marisol Flores, Angie Leyva Araujo, Steve Moore, Heather Campbell, Kathy Stancik, Gerard Hogan, Susan Blair, Joseph Powell, and Ed Stover.
An OPEN MIC will follow, with local poets reading their original bird-themed poems.
This event is supported by the Ellensburg Arts Commission.
Free and open to the public.

The Ravenna Triple Series comprises chapbooks by accomplished contemporary writers of poetry and short prose. Not a magazine or journal, each Triple offers a generous representation of your favorite writer as well as the chance to discover work by writers you have yet to encounter.
This month’s Poetry in Ellensburg will include visiting writers Michelle Eames, Heikki Huotari, and J.I. Kleinberg. During this fun and free event, writers will read, sign, discuss their works, and answer questions with the audience.
