The Palace Gallery is pleased to introduce our Spring 2026 Visiting Artist In Residence Angela Mele.
Angela is a scientific illustrator and artist who lives in the Teanaway Community Forest (Cle Elum, Washington). As a visiting artist at the Palace, Angela is returning to a long-lost hobby of oil painting to explore the landscapes surrounding her new, remote home. She is working with this [draft] theme as a premise: Feeling grounded in this rare, challenging, and changing landscape comes from following the wisdom of all who have been here before.
Angela is also an interpretive planner (someone who develops frameworks for public engagement at sites such as parks and museums) and the co-founder of a local interpretive services company called Studio Understory. She has a BFA from Florida State University and an MFA in Museum Exhibition Planning and Design from UArts in Philadelphia.
